Among the main quinoa producing areas in the country are Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín, Cusco, Apurímac, Arequipa and Puno, the latter concentrates the highest production, with 35,166 tons, which represents 44.4% of the national production.
With regard to export, Peru also remains – since 2014 – the world’s leading quinoa exporter. According to TRADE MAP, our country placed 44,300 tons in the international market in 2016, which represents 47.3% of the total exported volume. Following the footsteps of Peru is Bolivia with 31.4%, the United States with 5.6% and the Netherlands 3.6%.
Also, quinoa exports until mid-December of 2019, showed that Peru maintains the lead with a total of 45,500 tons, showing an increase of 1.9% over the previous year.
Quinoa Andina, a Peruvian company, is one of the largest exporters of high-quality quinoa, 100% free of pesticides.
